I recently ( October) purchased and began using a Naill universal water trap in my L & M bag. Before this addition, I was seasoning my bag about once every 6 months. Now, I find the bag seems to need seasoning about every 3 months or so. The bag is only two and a half years old. Is the water trap causing the bag to dry out quicker, therefore requiring more frequent seasoning? I don't appear to be a particularly wet blower, and after an hour or so of play, I only dump out a few drops. Also, I'm wondering if my playing in 45 degree weather is affecting the moisture content.

Psychopiper: It sounds to me as if the water trap is working. It should keep the inside dryer, and therefore the whole system may need to be seasoned more often. I have been seasoning my bag (hide, homemade water trap) every two to three months and I am playing in a similar environment as you (if not the same one). As far as playing in the colder temps, it would seem to me that the moisture inside the bag should increase! I'm no help with that one.
Bottom line is, if you haven't any moisture problems and you're having to season the bag a bit more than previously -- no worries! Just be sure to clean it out between seasonings! If you haven't already, check out Chris Hamilton's post "Bad pipe tricks."
