Hey, there...
Any of you guys (or gals) who are pipers and live in lower Michigan interested in hooking up with a new non-competition band? We are in definite need of pipers!
We practice in Goodrich, MI, which is in Southern Genesee County, quite close to both Oakland County and Lapeer County.
We'll take drummers, too...thus far, we have six drummers and 1 and a half pipers (1 is a student).
Come on, you know you want to join us...we're great people! :thumb:

P.S. I forgot to mention that we'd also be interested in possibly hiring a well-seasoned piper to be our band’s pipe instructor. :)

Da Soo? Da Soo is barely in da U.P.!

But den again, accordin' to dem real yoopers who live in Marquette an Ishpeming an Negaunee an Houghton an Ontonagon an places like dat, my town ain't part a da real U.P. either. Too far south, doncha know. We live on Lake Michigan -- might as well be a Wisconsin cheesehead, eh?

Note to Trolls, Cheeseheads, and the Not From Around Here: The previous conversation has been held in Yooppanese. It can be hard to understand sometimes, but it is a treasured language to those speak it.

The real question: Is it Yooperganian? Or Yoopergander?

(Originally from Flint/Flushing, but getting rehabilitated in LA-LA Land)

For them that aren't from around here... Michigan, that is...

Michigan is a state with two peninsula's... One above the other... Connected by a 5 mile long suspension bridge at the Strait's of Mackinaw (Mackinaw Bridge). Those who live in the Upper Peninsula (contracted to UP) are called "Yoopers"... Short for "UPer's".

Those who live in the Lower Peninsula are often called Troll's - because we live 'Below' or Under the Bridge (think Three Billy Goats Gruff). Tourist's are also called Fudgies because nearly everyone buys fudge from all of the Candy/Tourist shops located on Mackinaw (Mackinac) island.

There isn't many places on the planet as pretty as the UP of Michigan. It truly is God's country. There are more scenic places tucked away on public land; waterfalls everywhere, over looks, and beautiful crystal clear lakes than anywhere I have been... (I am sure your neck of the woods is nice too)

Anyhow... I thought all this troll talk might not make sense to some out there and thought I would put it into perspective.

Even as a native-born Troll I can appreciate the beauty of the UP, and the toughness of Yoopers. You guys rock!

Hey,
How about getting back on topic. I enjoy good humor as much as the next piper but don't let this thread get hijacked, remember that someone came here looking for help. :)
