I received this message on my website today:

"I am trying to find anyone with some info on how to seal up a seam in my Ross Cannister bag Synthetic. I have tried rubber/shoe goop, etc., but nothing is holding. What stuff do I use to re-seal the seam? Hard to play with air coming out of holes I do not want it to come out of! It is right at the chanter neck, the underside and is not a hole, just leaking from the seam. What glue is to be used?"

I have a suspicion that the bag is shot, but does anyone have any advice?

Thanks,
Andrew

Sounds like a crack has developed along the seam line at the neck. Even if you can fix it with wet suit adhesive, the crack will reoccur with use.

As said above, it's new bag time. How old is the bag? Ross bags typically last four or five years, at which time they develop pinholes all over, reducing efficiency.

I have had some success with the use of "Loctite Vinyl, Plastic and Fabric Adhesive". The adhesive was applied with a bent paper clip between the base of the rubber socket(?),which holds the stocks, and between the exterior of the bag.

The adhesive (smallest tube) was purchased at Lowes and likely was under $5.00.
