Good afternoon,

Last evening while tuning the top popped off my bass drone, immediately my Ezeedrone Bass reed went out. Put the top back on and it would only take about 1/3 the amount of air pressure before cutting back out. I tried adjusting the bridle up and down but the tone is poor or cuts out very early.

Would the sudden loss of back pressure cause damage to the reed?

Thanks in advance,

Dave

No, but check to make sure there's no moisture in the reed or foreign material caught. Move the the bridle to open the tongue more, in very small increments, and try mouth blowing the reed until it strikes in steady and does not double-tone.

Slide a piece of paper under the tongue and remove the "cheese"...

Another thing to look at is hemp joints. You didn't explain why the top popped off. Kind of strange, I;ve never seen or heard of that.
Anyway - make sure all joints are properly hemped. That they have are tight, do not wobble and can still be free for adjustment. Check the stocks too. Some really unusual problems have been caused and cured by just such mudane things.
