I'm relocating on military orders to the Quantico area and looking for a band! I'm the current P/M of a competing/show band and active solo competitor.

Hi Brenden,

The MacMillan Pipe Band is a competitive Grade 3 band that has a lot of fun and we do our best to deliver a good sound and play well. I'm the P/M and Instructor. We practice in Rockville, Maryland - just over the bridge from Northern Virginia.

Thanks Chris, I know right where it is from my tour up in Thurmont MD and piping days with the Frederick Scottish P&D. If you've got room for another motivated piper, I'd love to have a look at your playlist to see if I'm skill-eligible...

There is also the P.G. Police Pipe Band. Chris is our instructor. We are on a rebuilding year after many members retired and moved out of the area. Most of the pipers are begining level.

Thanks for the good word, Ken! We went thru a similar period a couple yrs back when our membership fluxed pretty heavily. Our founding members proved to be the backbone throughout.

Brendan- You should also consider the City of Alexandria PB. Ken Smith-Christmas, <smxmas1@msn.com>, a side drummer, happens to be the director of the Marine Corps Musuem in Quantico and lives in Stafford, Va.
I don't know your playing level but they are a Grade 4 band that has the potential to improve.
The band has been around since before the early 70's, when I played with them. Here's another choice.
Good luck.
