Our (beginner) DM is looking to get past book learning and take some actual 1 on 1. Anyone know of an instructor in NJ?

Depends on where you're at in NJ... Tom King of the Shamrock and Thistle Pipes and Drums of Ocean County (http://www.shamrockandthistle.com) also does a splendid job and has won a number of competitions.

Keith is correct. Tommy is a great DM and one hell of a great guy. Keith I wasn't aware that Tom was instructing. Didn't mean to leave him out.
I might be calling on him to help our new DM of the Harrisburg Fire/Police band out. Just the basics to get him started.
Hope all is well in Ocean County. Hope to see you soon.

Just wanted to report back - we had Chuck come out for the first time last night. Very professional and really whipped our DM into shape. I was very impressed with him and our DM is looking forward to working with him more.

Depending on your location along the (in)famous NJ Turnpike, you've got a wealth of choices. Already mentioned is Chuck Kaba, Duncan McCaskill is in Piscataway, and if you are in Northwest Central Jersey, It would be worthwhile to check out John Neil in the Allentown, PA region.
