Bob, I have a suggestion...

Is it possible/feasible to have the previews of a post in each forum?

[What I'm talking about is the "screen tip" that displays the first few lines of the opening post when your mouse cursor hovers over the subject/thread title.]

I've seen this on some other forums, and it's great...doesn't let you get roped in by a misleading subject line or waste your time with a post thread that doesn't interest you. A real convenience.

Anyway, just thought I'd thow it out there. The forum already rocks, this would just be icing.

keep up the great work, Bob...

Hi Dominic,

I do know what you mean, I often wish people would understand that the subject line of (as an example) "for sale" - doesn't really help  figure out what the actual post is about.. My guess is that often people don't "think outside the box" when titling a thread.. (I mean, think from the perspective of a viewer coming in to see hundreds of new threads, and not wanting to take the time to read EVERY one)

There are dozens (that I know, probably hundreds in fact) of different software packages for these sorts of BB / Forum - I chose this one after looking in detail at A LOT of them, and from what I can tell, this software is considerably more popular for Forums than all the other software w=packages combined (and most of the other ones are free!) Having written that, one thing we can always be certain of, no one has the best of 'everything'..

Our software does not have the ability to easily do what you mention (I agree it would be nice to have, but the actual implementation of that feature, with this software, could be more than a nightmare).. I mean, probably not reasonably possible..

BTW - If you use the "Today's Active Topics" method of navigating, while limited to 24 hours, it does give a couple of lines of the most recent posts. (Don't know if this helps you, or if you already knew)

Every now and then I'll ask people to be a bit more clear in their thread subject lines..

Bob,

Thanks for the explanation. It was just a "it would be cool if...", and I thought I'd throw it out there.

Also, thanks for the "active topics" tip. I didn't know that...

Thanks for all the great work you do with this forum...it's fantasic ("as-is")!

Keep up the good work,
