Larger girth guy with big legs (especially calves) wondering if anybody has any ideas on where to find kilt hose that work well? Willing to have them custom made but am having difficulty in finding a maker (knitter). Has anybody else had this problem? The "stock" hose are just stretched to the max and don't look that good. Would just like to find someone who could make them for me. Already tried a "famous" maker in the U.S. who has a book written on kilt hose-they didn't turn out well because my measurements were not followed. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

I'd like to add to this, not only big around but tall. I sure would like to find a pair that will come up past my mid calf. From the bottom of my heel to the inside back of my knee is 21 inches. Looks like I'm wearing a pair of sports socks for hiking boots.

I'm the Quartermaster for my band, and as my name suggests, just a "wee" on the large size. For myself, and those with just plain large calfs, I order full hose from J. Higgins.

I have a good friend who lives in N. Dakota who makes the most gorgeous custom hose you've ever seen. Drop me a line at kadler@lyon.edu and I'll forward your address on to her and get you connected. She makes these AWESOME hose out of an Icelandic wool that's bulky, but soft and not itchy. I really like 'em.

Try this lady. Joanne Hinmon. (http://pages.prodigy.net/bagpipes/celticknits28.htm)
I bought two pair of custom made hose from her and for the first time have properly fitting socks. She will tell you where and how to measure for perfect results.
