The summary:
58 tunes (!) entered.
19 in Marches
16 in Lite (Strathspey, Reels, Airs)
23 in Extra Lite (Jigs, H/P, and 'other')
Finalists in each category have been selected -(we have a good selection group of the Moderators - not all, but I think this is not a problem)
Music Forum moderator Neil Dickie will receive the list of finalists from me tomorrow (it will probably exactly look like):
1: 16,18,27,28,44,46
2: 10,38,42,58
3: 1,12,17,41
:D
The tune evaluations have been done without any knowledge of the author's identity (on the part of the other moderators). This will remain the case up to the posting of the winners names(sometime mid October.) In other words, I alone know who wrote the tunes - at this point.
Some really interesting 'things' have come from the finalist selection evaluation - at least three tunes have been identified that were already 'in circulation' - but (happily) in each case the known author was indeed the one submitting the tune. Just a case of entering tunes that were not new compositions.. (We can talk about this .. later  ) played the notes themselves.. and it seems there are a few tunes that my never have actually been played on a chanter? Another really interesting discussion for later..
This week I did ask Jack and Robbie about their schedules, and it still looks like they will find the time - Jack to play so we can record, and Robbie to evaluate.. OH BOY! (I still think this is so cool!!)
Once again, thanks for your participation, patience, and.. stand by..
After the contest results are announced, the plan is to share some (?) of the finalists, and the winners too. I will in fact leave that up to our Music Forum Moderator.. I'm just .. what am I doing anyway?? :woohoo:
Cheers,
Bob
