Hi. I'm not sure if this is the appropriate place, if it is not, please move it. Two of the members of ORCLPDC had their pipes stolen in Toronto after the warriors day parade. I said I would pass on this message. Any help would be surely appreciated. I hope they are only misplaced, and will find their way back.

Mac Walker and Ron Freeman had their bagpipes stolen in Toronto on

No doubt! Well, I'm just hoping someone picked them up either accidentally, or meaning well, and they will be returned. I tell ya, I never let mine out of my sight...

Hi Carrie:

It was great to meet you on Saturday, you are the first one from this forum I've met in person.

Yes, it is too bad when something like this happens. I keep mine in my hand or within sight at all times and don't wander off assuming they'll be ok. For me my pipe is too personal an item to be too casual about it. Many peoples pipes are simply irreplaceable regardless of insurance replacements.

Lets hope things turn out for the best.

Hope you had a good time down here in the Big Smoke at the EX.

Regards, Dave

I wish I could help. I have little to do with
the Ex but live in Toronto. That's a real
shame, especially for the Hendersons. The
owners must be beside themselves. Maybe the
pipes ended up at a pawnbroker (around Church
Street) or were sold to Richardson's Tartan
Shop, which takes used pipes. Good luck.

To Everyone:

There is a very nice article in todays Toronto Sun newspaper on the whole story of these pipes. I wish I knew how to link this on but you will have to go to the web site of the newspaper to read it.

I sent Mike Strobel an email thanking him for this as it is unusual to see things about pipes in major newspapers, the headline is The Bagpipers' Lament.

Take care, Dave

The story has moved to this page:

Stolen Bagpipes (http://www.canoe.ca/Columnists/strobel.html)

The article refers to pipers as a "tight lot". Even with all our differences, this is true.

I hope the pipes are returned safely.

Keep an eye out on Ebay, Amazon and any other auction sites. I would also send letters to as many pipe dealers as you can.

Finally, Never, EVER let your pipes out of your sight.
