Good Morning,

Currently I am hosting my band's web site on my personal space at my dial-up ISP. The band has expressed the want to have a unique domain name. Using this as a good opportunity to have the site hosted properly, I've been researching hosts.

Any thoughts out there? I am looking at Aplus.net at the moment. $9.95 a month, domain registration included and no set up fee.

Thanks in advance.

Chris

Hi Chris,

Here is an amazing place to do web host research:

A bit scary, how active, and how much information..

Chris,

I use 123cheaphosting.com

I haven't found too many places with better deals for the features.

For under $200 I got 2 years with Domain Name Registration, 75 meg of storage, and lots of email capabilities. Plus access to a lot of other nice geeky things, like PHP and MySQL for some things I am working on.

Yee Gads.........................

Well Bob, I gotta say thanks. I checked out the forum and Aplus.net was completely torpedoed! It turns out their business practice borders on fraud. Bummer :thumb:

Thanks again!

I've been very happy with pair.com as a web host for a couple of my sites. They are very anti-spam and reliable.

I usually use active-domain.com for registration.

One of our pipers is a web developer and has donated some server space for the Band's site.

I've hosted a few sites on arishost.com (http://www.arishost.com) $30 a year and includes email accounts, ftp accounts as well as cgi access and other features. If you register your domain with them for $30 a year you get free hosting. If you've already registered, then hosting is $30 a year. Fairly reliable.

I have no complaints. The account set up and DNS registration was quick. I've asked for technical help one time, and that was answered very quickly.

They have a nice web based administration panel that lets you control a lot of things, which is pretty neat. It has a web site builder, but I wasn't ever planning on using that anyway so I have no input as to the usefulness of that tool.

One of the best features, I feel from a band standpoint is the 50 email addresses and aliases. A lof of places only give you 2 or 3 email addresses.

Over all :thumb: :thumb: Way up!

That is a great resource Bob.

I use www.readyhosting.com (http://www.readyhosting.com) for the LPB...I may switch after this current term expires. I concur with some the posts at webhostingtalk - support has been pretty slow to respond to questions I have from time to time.

Also, when I found them, I was looking exclusively for Windows-based platforms - before I knew anything about Apache, MySQL, PHP, etc. (there's a lot of great, free stuff out there).

I just moved our band website to ipowerweb.com. It is 7.95 a month for a one year sign up. Free domain registration,400 mb space, cgi, shoping cart, and 300 pop3 email accounts. Plus other goodies. So far I'm happy with their service.
