I've got programs for windows but am getting a mac soon. Don't know what type of OS or what mac.
Will most windows programs work on a mac OS with a windows emulator?
Where can I find an emulator?

I lovethe Mac G5 with dual processors and OSX. Woof! Woof! My daughter brought one home about a month ago, though I'm still using a G4.
To emulate Windows on a Mac, Virtual PC is the most common. Decide in advance which Windows system to load. Virtual PC can be had with any of them. Lots of info available. Start with:

You should ask the same question on the Apple discussions at http://discussions.info.apple.com/
What are you running on your PC? I think you will find that you won't need VirtualPC (emulator) because the mac programs will do what you want.
You won't regret the "switch"!!

I use Virtual PC to run PiobMaster. Some really good things just don't come Macwise yet.

Some programs that will be needed will be BMW, Piobmaster, Microsoft Office if possible and photoshop.
Anyone got any info on what to update as I've heard that the previous owner got it 3 years ago.

MS Office is made for Mac. The Mac version doesn't have Access, but does include all the others in the suite. There are several relational databases available that can be used instead of Access if you need that. And definitely run Photoshop native in the Mac environment! It's much better straight up on Mac than trying to run it in Windows in emulation. Depending on your machine, it might be better than what you could do in Windows on the PC.
As to what to upgrade, that depends on what machine and operating system you're planning to use and how much money you have to burn. The Apple discussion groups that Andrew mentioned are good places to ask around for details on whatever it is that you're getting. And Andrew's right - you won't regret it!
