Don't have the offical scoop, just this:

Grade 4 - QMM - 14 bands competing

1. L.A. Scots (2nd piping,1st drumming,1st Ensemble)
2. R.P. Blanford & Sons
3. House of Scotland

Don't have grade 3 info, sorry.

Grade 1

1. L.A. Scots
2. Prince Charles
3. Coyne Memorial - playing up from Grade 2

These are the results that were announced on Sunday at massed bands. No doubt someone from WUSPBA will have a more complete list to post eventually:

G-IV

1. Nicholsons
2. L.A.Scots
3. Misty Isle
4. High Desert

G-III

1. Caber Feidh
2. Prince Charles
3. Kevin Blandford Memorial

G-I

1. Prince Charles
2. L.A. Scots
3. James J. Coyne Memorial

The (adult) drum major placings were given also. I don't know that I heard the winner's name correctly; it sounded like "Jason McGuire". But as there's no Jason McGuire on the roster in the programme, I'm presuming I misheard completely. 2d was Kevin MacHeffner and 3d was JC Anderson.

Cheers

- Bob Brodie Thanks Bob, but I'm afraid we were only third in Drumming!
R.P. Blandford took third as a band, but thank you for the promotion anyway. :)

Cheers Hamish

Hi Hamish,

I'm sure you guys deserved the third! :)

Sorry for the misinformation...wonder who actually took 2nd on Saturday? Misty Isle?

High Desert was out! Cool! Sorry I missed Doc and the gang!

Where's Caber Feidh from? (grade 3) and are they a juvenile band?

Caber Feidh is a SoCal band and has been around for over 30 years. It's led by PM Alan Weidlich (Glen Thompson for a while) and PS John Davis. Three highly respected teachers and adjudicators on the left coast. They were a Grade 2 band for many years, but Grade 3 for about the last 5 years. They were part of the Troika of SoCal Grade 2 bands of the 90's including LAPD led by Eric Rigler and LA Scots led by Scott MacDonald.

Hi Bob! Sorry we missed you. We (High Desert)absolutley SUCKED on Saturday, but regained some self-respect on Sunday. To many "issues" to play really well. But then again it's the bands who battle through those things that win. Sigh!

No time to party or to even watch my daughter and her fiance' in the Grade 1 competition. 5 of us left the circle, did the pipe band quick change and headed to the Ontario Airport and back to Albuquerque. Had to go back on duty that night as soon as we landed! Yuch! Thank God there were enough of us still there to get our travel money!

The LA County Fairgrounds seem to be a venue with a lot of promise. Couldn't even tell there was a Dog Show and a Horse Show going on at the same time. Weather was great, but heard it was over 100F (38.5C) the week before.

Cheers,
Doc

We actually tracked the weather in Pomona for about 4 weeks before the games. It never got over 85. It won't hit 100 degrees until August/September. It was about 80-81 and sunny on Saturday. Sunday should have been the same but ended up cooler and overcast.

Overall, the weather was awesome!

Hopefully San Diego will be as nice of weather.

Any idea on how Camerons did?

May have been Doc, not sure. I know it was nice in Pomona. Glad the games aren't held in September!
