Since I promised a review of this concert in another thread, I'm following through. In short, this was an awesome show. The setup was the usual Seven Nations line up, backed up up by the SC Philharmonic Orchestra. They performed a few 7N tunes, then the orchestra followed alone with a couple Leroy Anderson tunes, then 7N came back out and did a few more. This was repeated in the second set.
I was fortunate enough to be sitting front row center, so I had a great view of the action. The orchestra added a great element to the sound. Very full and powerful. 7N had the place rockin' and they seemed to be enjoying the evening as well. Scott did a few tunes Ceilidh style with the drummer sitting in folding chairs and Dan fiddling nearby. Dan also did a few solo tunes and entertained with his usual energetic dancing. It was everything you'd want from a 7N concert, and more. The encore was a rousing singalong version of AG with Kirk also playing pipes and the orchestra backing.
Scott Long, if you are reading this, terrific show! Your playing was awesome as usual. Please come back to Columbia and do this again next year.
BTW, the Palmetto Pipes and Drums also had a piping and drumming demonstration at the venue before the concert. This was well attended and lively as well. It ended with a killer version of Steam Train.
