I am trying to compile a list of the 10 most important things for a band to do for survival. For example; keep politics out of band functions.
Do not work so hard that it is no longer fun.
Elect a PM with leadership skills.
Do not allow finances to cause dissention.
Hold band practice at regular intervals.
Keep egotism under control.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Jim

Be a sociable band, don't be afraid to use any reason at all to get together at a restaurant or have a small party.

Actively persue and recruit new members.

Don't be afraid to ask a problem member to leave the band.

Regularly recognize members who have gone above and beyond what is expected,...also those who have improved quickly via extra-ordinary effort.

Jim, are you looking for input related to classic pipe bands? (If so this is not really the right forum, and I'll be happy to move the thread for you)
