I have been invited to play some pipe tunes along with a rock band that does ACDC covers; they're called 'Great Scott', based in Ottawa, and I'm starting with 'Long Way to the Top'. Anyone else ever played this tune? Any advice would be appreciated. First gig this weekend.
They have a website at www.myspace.com/greatscottrules (http://www.myspace.com/greatscottrules)

Cheers! Beth (more of a Bowie fan...)

just make sure you can get the tuning right . Pipe pitch these days is a wee sharp of B flat and in hot weather a bit sharp of B natural . I plat with a rock band and we do most of our tunes in B flat or E flat or relative minors . I use a B flat chanter , it's just a matter of getting into concert pitch . I assume you guys have gone over this a few times .
Or they could all tune to the pipes. Any way good luck and have a blast

Just wanted to update that the rock gig went very well; brought along some of the band's drum corps for support, and this song opened the show. Dry ice, backlighting, a bit of a Lament to start, into STB and once the crowd was into it I paused and went into 'Long Way to The Top'. The place went nuts. It was cool! I'll have photos soon to share. The first of many shows with them I hope!
