The non-piping kilt thread in the Beer Tent reminded me of this oldie:
Jake and Zeke, two Hillbillies (Mountain Williams in PC terminology) were drafted into the U.S. Army in WWI. On their first day in the trenches in France, they heard an odd sound nearby. Poking his head up, Zeke takes a peek and says "Jake, ya gotta see this". Jake pops up to see a Highland Regiment being piped to the front. "What the hell are they?" asked Zeke. "They cain't be men, they're wearin' skirts". "Well they caint be women, they're too damn ugly" replied Jake. "I know!" said Zeke "They must be that there Middlesex regiment the Colonel told us about!"
OK, OK, but it's a real knee-slapper when you're eleven.
