(excuses to the Australians in advance! I'm NOT trying to be rude to them but in this joke the accent is of the utmost importance!)
Two new recruits from Australia were sent to the Western Front in 1917. Upon their arrival they meet their new officer, a braw Scot, who asks them: "Well laddies, did you come here to die...?"
Upon which they reply:"No sir, we came here yesterday"...
