Pelican 1510 Configuration

Does anyone have a Pelican 1510 case and if so how do you have it configured?

When I travel I tow a old CJ5 Jeep behind my motorhome and then travel the local area in it. Needless to say it is not the best ridding vehicle out there so I want a hard case for my pipes.

Thanks

There was a detailed discussion a while back here

http://forums.bobdunsire.com/forums/...hlight=pelican

and there's a link in that discussion to an earlier discussion.

Probably most or all of the answers to your questions will be there.

Sure, Iíll try to take new pictures tomorrow. I sprayed Plastic-Dip on the pick and pluck foam and it sort of turned it into closed-cell foam.

I had Cobra Foam cut an insert for me.

Drone tops and blow pipe in the foam, bag on top.

Don't think I have time to take new photos - here are the originals if photobucket cooperates.

This is the bottom layer:

Top layer:

https://i168.photobucket.com/albums/...psqqluhjqy.jpg

And the bag goes on top:

Advantages (IMO):
Highest level of protection in an easy-to-use case that isn't very heavy.
Not only is there impact protection, but it's easy to control the humidity level.
Waterproof.
Roller case.
Cost - Not much more expense than the cheapest fabric cases, and much less expensive than the typical fabric case. What you see is about $130.

Disadvantages (IMO):
All the cool kids have the fabric cases now.
Requires disassembly (and assembly) - I don't really think this is a disadvantage, but some do. I can do each in less than 60 seconds (not counting swabbing). Folks I know that brag about taking the bass drone apart and shoving the set in the case have unbelievably stinky pipes.
Lack of space for other stuff - Again, I don't think too much about this. This case is for a set of pipes that I do not want to ever buy again, so I don't want a bunch of junk knocking into them. I also maintain my pipes every day, so I don't need a workbench to do onsite repair.

Anyway, hope this helps. I'm 100% in favor of folks doing whatever makes them happy with their pipes and piping.

Probably should have added that this is a Pelican iM2500 case. I haven't used a 1510. I do have a 1605 for smallpipes and border pipes.
