To continue talking to myself, I'll be darned if I can even find a recording of this tune as "Rocky Mountain Fiddle Camp" gives lots of YouTube hits but none of the actual tune, just of the camp. :willy:

This is a lot of great information. Thanks for the help everyone. And I had no idea about Scotland the Brave. I learned O'Keefes slide yesterday on my new smallpipes and it sounds fantastic with the high B. Also, I'm finding that in many tunes where a high A is followed or preceded by a high G, it sometimes sounds better if I insert a high B in place of the high G.

I've been having trouble locating right sheet music for Come By the Hills. That's a beautiful song.

Sorry, you'll have to transpose, but I'm sure you can manage. The tune to John MacLean's is based on Scotland the Brave but Hamish had a habit of being quite free with his adaptations of tunes - I think his song predates the tune becoming famous in the early fifties.

Come by the Hills is a more recent song to the traditional(?) tune of Buachaill ón Éirne. You might have some more luck searching for the latter. It is typically in G-major so you will have to transpose it up a 5th (7 semi-tones) to D-major.

Hi, you can use the free application Musescore (https://musescore.org/en) to do the transposing. It also has a function to import abc files.

Scotland the Brave for one! The first note of the 2nd part is high B.
