Virtual St. Pat's?

Hey all - I live in NYC, and loss of the parade is a huge disappointment for a lot of people. I was thinking about popping up on my roof for a couple of minutes tomorrow around 6pm to play a couple of tunes (just enough to avoid outstaying my welcome) and might stream it on social media.

Anyone know of anybody else trying to get this started? If not, could be cool way to mark the occasion safely.

Sorry I won't quite hear you from here. Great idea though!

I can see the start of a new trend, and maybe a tradition here.

Forget a Fiddler on a roof. We're gonna have a Piper on a roof!

Mazel Tov!

Oy, and I ain't even Jewish, you Meshuggener wilde Chayyaa

Ha - yeah, even my hardest reed can only go so far. But for those of use who can stream live on Facebook or Instagram, could be a cool way to have a bit of solidarity and safely mark the day during a pretty weird time.

Might be a good time to raise awareness to all of those in the bar and restaurant industry who support us on St Pats and also give the service bands, many of which will have members that are going to be on the front lines, a chance to get in front of some screens.

I'm gonna start tomorrow at 6pm EST, probably with Minstrel Boy and stream on Instagram. Will play for as long as the neighbors can tolerate it, so to 6:05 or so.

I got off of Facebook, but if anybody is on one of the piping groups and think this is a good idea, please share it and see if we can get some more folk involved.

I was planning on having a one-man parade up and down my cul-de-sac tomorrow afternoon. Thought this might give a lift to some of the people (especially our older neighbors) on our street.

Yup. Facebook live is a bit low on quality, but any port in a storm. I'm thinking of making it an event called "Tipping Point" where friends who are in the food service industry can put their paypal address in the comments, and anyone who'd normally put money in my tip can will be able to put money in the accounts of bartenders and waitresses.
Michigan is shutting down all bars at 3:00 p.m. for an indefinite period.

Greetings to All, This 16th of March,

In our Announcements section there is a call for us
to all go out tomorrow... at 7 PM... and in what ever
local time zone any may be... and to... pipe away!!...
to mark the day!!

With this above idea... seems a good thing... to me!! :)

And this is not unlike... our international movement...
for all (for those who can) to play at 3 PM (local time)
on the 8th of May... to mark WW II's... VE Day.

Perhaps... if we can put all of our collective noggins
together :) ... we can determine a time (or two) that
many can join in... where ever they might be.

And... the 19th of September is now designated as
"Half-Way to Saint Patrick's Day" ... and perhaps we
can make a bigger "do"... of that... than is usual. :)

Just some thoughts...

Be well... Stay safe...

Regards to All,

Pip01
