Webmaster resource / reference links

I don't know if this will work, but it seems like something worth trying - a thread where we add links to sites where we find useful information / references for webmasters..

We have many threads where links are being shared, but perhaps one thread, just for the purpose will make things easier  ..

I'll start:

1) Jakob Nielsen's Top 10 Design Mistakes of 2003:
http://www.useit.com/alertbox/20031222.html
- while you may not agree with some, and you certainly won't find they all apply to any site, there is some excellent information (all over his site).

http://www.webpagesthatsuck.com - Been a fan for years! :)

Here are some more for tutorials/reference:

Oh, re: a previous thread check out how Wired News ( http://www.wired.com/ ) handles text size. It's in the upper right corner - it appears they use alternate style sheets for different sizes.

Here are some favourites:

http://www.phong.com - Great photoshop tutorials, not specific for websites but very useful!

http://www.w3.org/ - info about CSS etc.

http://www.colorschemer.com/online.html - Color picker, you can find the exact matching colors for your website

http://www.lipsum.com/ - Latin text generator, for when you are making the website and you don't have the text yet, you can use the latin text.

Try this one (especially for those of us who utilize Photoshop in Design)

www.good-tutorials.com

(edit by BD to fix URL - I hope this was what you meant?)
