Bagpipe Music Writer Gold

Has anyone figured out how to take a BMW Gold file and make an MP3 file from it? I would like to take my band's music and play it on an MP3 played. Midi files won't play on the new MP3 players.

For other software, I simply use Audacity to record while the software is playing the tune, then export as .MP3.

While there is a place for tools that do what you are asking for, the ability to read music at sight should not be unusual. It is not difficult - it is one of the easiest things about our instrument, compared to others.

I plug in the speaker port of my computer to the input of a digital recorder that produces MP3 files. I use a ZOOM but any suitable device could be used. I adjust the volume on the computer and then get Bagpipe Music Writer Gold to play the tune. I monitor the sound on ear buds plugged into the digital recorder. This also works for any live performance being broadcast on the internet, e.g. Piping Live.

I transfer the files from the digital recorder to my Windows computer and play them with QuickTime Player. You could also transfer them to your cell phone.

QuickTime lets me set markers to start and end at and allows me to loop between those two markers. I can also adjust the playback pitch and tempo with QuickTime using the "Show A/V Controls" menu. QuickTime also works on Apple.

The computer speakers can be plugged into a gamer speaker system to produce hi-fidelity sound at any volume desired.

Also works great for hearing a metronome when playing the pipes. :)

I've recorded with Total Recorder for years. Open the program (or website), hit Rec, hit play on the BMW tune, hit Stop and you have the computer generated tune into mp3 or many other formats. Less than $20.

Hi all,

While I use BMW Gold for re arranging music, this free one works really well and will create sound files too. And can be found here
