Billy Connolly and Aberdeenshire
In his book "Made In Scotland: My Grand Adventures in a Wee Country", Sir Billy writes

"Pamela and I had a place in Aberdeenshire, and every year a local pipe band would march up my drive, play some music, then do the same at the homes of the other local lairds. This was a tradition that had been going on there for centuries and I loved being part of it and keeping it going."

I wonder of the Aberdeenshire forumites can expand on this for us. Who is the band, and when do they do this, for example.

Re: Billy Connolly and Aberdeenshire
Lonach pipe band. He used to live in Candacraig House. I used to see Billy in the area, sometimes with people like Robin Williams and Steve Martin. Once a year he would provide drink for the men of the Lonach gathering when they dropped by Candacraig house in the morning of the Lonach Gathering. He sold up about 5 years ago.
I'd heard he moved to New York, but I still see him occasionally in Glasgow, he meets old pals at my workplace.
