APC Guide to Pibroch

Just to let folks know in here, I posted in Announcements the release of the iBook “APC Guide to Pibroch”. It is available here, for iOS and macOS devices running the Books app:

https://itunes.apple.com/us/book/apc...48968607?mt=11

Windows and Linux users must use Firefox and the EPUBReader plugin.

It is free.

I would welcome feedback and discussion. I’ve already received some re: certain controversial generalizations I made.

The nice thing about electronic books is that it is trivial to update them without negatively impacting those who “bought” the book. So - if you have suggestions please feel free to send them to me or post them here.

Thanks! I hope you download and enjoy. Or at least find something useful.

:-)

Many of you might be without an Apple product. Reader.

Try downloading from this link:

You will need Firefox and EPUBReader plugin, and Iím not sure all functionality will work.

Works for text but very, very painful for everything else. It appears, from the quote, that it hasn't actually been tested on any other OS or platform. YMMV.

Just so you know, the market share for mobile OS's is

Android 74.9%
iOS 22.2%
Windows 0.34%

The market share for desktop OS's is

Windows 87.71%
Apple 9.61%
Linux 2.09%

Releasing it on iOS-only or MacOS-only penalizes 75% of the people who own mobile devices and almost 90% of the people who own desktops.

Sigh.

I understand the platform limitations. But attempting to make it more widely accessible absolutely cripples the experience, as you've noted.

And, frankly - I'm not quite sure how to go about doing it, anyway.

Too bad. The Enhanced Content is what sets it apart. And until improved standards are created and supported, I'm afraid I'm going to be stuck having to limit it to the Apple environment.

My apologies.

PS - As soon as I find suitable options, I will notify everyone.

FYI, I get "Item Not Available" when I follow your link on iOS. Searching the iTunes store does not find it either.

Best,
Matt

Yes. I uploaded a bogus update. I have to fix it, and they have to approve it. It shouldn't take much longer. Perhaps try back in a couple of more hours.

Thank you David! Perfect! :thumb:

I was reading the ePub version on my Android Samsung Tablet last night and really enjoying the book (despite the conversion difficulties).
I was learning about keening, caoine, crahinin, double echoes, and hiharin and following up with examples on altpibroch.com and youtube.com. Fascinating stuff.
I can feel my mind expanding already.
