Your favorite Celtic rock/pop band?

So right now, who is the most favorite Celtic rock/pop (?) band that most of you would love to see at your next Highland festival?

For a festival-sized act, you can't beat Glengarry Bhoys. If you haven't heard of them, check them out.

The Rogues are good. http://www.therogues.com/

Red Hot Chili Pipers are also good. https://rhcp.scot/

I would like to see the Wicked Tinkers http://www.wickedtinkers.com/ come east and play some shows on the other side of the country. I miss seeing them since I moved out of California a while back.

Might I suggest some new blood?

Rathmore was formed in 2017 by former members of The Killdares and have kept trad-inspired celtic rock going in Dallas/Fort Worth.

They perform a bevy of originals along with some well-chosen covers from other celtic rock bands and... other sources :D

They played Woodland Games last year and will be back this year. Lot's of fun. My band Piper's Folly tried hard to get on one of the side stages at the games but they already had all the music booked. https://www.facebook.com/PipersFolly/

That is great to know. My daughter is planning to go to Woodland this year with family and friends. I will pass the word.

Hope to catch your band in a show someday soon!

Cheers,

Ben

If you're at Woodland come by the tent and say hello!

There are a lot of good options out there. I'll second that the Wicked Tinkers are very entertaining. Plus Aaron is a very nice guy.

Seven Nations used to be a staple at the Longs Peak Festival years ago. I know there were a lot of young men and women who aspired to do what they do. I think they tried to take some of their stuff mainstream and it didn't work out well from what I heard but I don't know.

I also found this "girl band" on a youtube channel for "The Snake Charmer". She plays Redpipes and the other two I'm not sure. My kids at school thought they were the bomb!! (that means good I was told...)

They're not quite a "band" in the traditional sense. Archy Jay ("The Snake Charmer") is a solo piper who's been making inroads on YouTube by playing covers of various songs/TV/movie themes. She collaborated with Jane Espie of Celtica https://celticarocks.com and Chelsea Joy, formerly of The Angry Brians, on their "Shipping up to Boston" video over St. Patrick's Day weekend. I'd LOVE to see Celtica sometime!

On their DK Murphys/Metallica cover, I think each was in their home country as well on the video. The Redpipes interest me on how they work--pricey things.

Manran
Rura
Ho-Ro
Treacherous Orchestra
Elephant Sessions (no pipes, but excellent)
Niteworks
Scott Wood Band
Tidelines

the list could go on!

I'm surprised no one mentioned Seven Nations (https://www.sevennations.com/) or The Ruffians (https://theruffians.com/)

Or am I betraying my NY roots.

for rock/pop I really like Rathkeltair. It's not the same without Neil Anderson, but Trevor Tanor is a great song writer.

I second all of these choices.

The Treacherous Orchestra doesn't do it for me. There are too many musicians in the band so that it is just a wall of cacophonous sound. I recognise though the talent of the individuals in it.
