MacHarg Low D SSP chanter on eBay

Here's something interesting (to me at least), a Low D SSP chanter (octave down from "normal" D chanter) from Mike Mac Harg. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Scottish-sma...3D162515267632

This isn't mine, nor do I know who the seller is, but thought someone here might find it interesting.

Best wishes.

Thanks Steve,

That is an interesting chanter. Sadly, I am strapped for cash and time, and the seller only wants to sell in the US so I wont be bidding. I would love to hear a review from the successful bidder if s/he is on here.

It looks like the chanter has an uillean pipe style wind cap so some sort of adapter may be necessary to couple it to a regular SSP bag.

Baggy, I think the link you sent is for a Seth Hamon low D chanter; which does sound good.

Best regards,
Kevin

If you decide you want to bid on it, you could bid on it and have it shipped to my house. I could meet you in the Windsor/Detroit area and give it to you, and no, I won't open it.

Thanks for the offer Twitchy. I will give that some thought.

Or you could have it delivered to me, Klondike Waldo or Ron Schlie and pick it up at the Pipers Gathering in August...

Best wishes.

Thanks Steve, also a great offer but unfortunately, it's looking more and more like I wont be at the Piper's Gathering again this year. Hopefully I can make it some year soon.

Best regards,
Kevin

Yes, it most certainly is. Sorry, I should've clarified as much. I just meant that in general, the low-d chanters sound amazing.

Thanks for covering that- I wouldn't have wanted to mislead anyone!

I've never seen or heard a low D chanter before. It sounds interesting but I get in enough trouble just switching back and forth between my A and D chanters. (My fingers can't find the holes) Our small pipe group has been working on a number of sets in D with A harmonies and several 4 & 5 instrument harmony tunes. These are a challenge to get right!
At the Gathering Ralph and I will be demonstrating our simple hardware store bass drone extensions allowing us to sound a Low D which adds a great growl to the sound:thumb:
See you there!

Think how a low D chanter would sound with those low D drones......:poke:

Best wishes.
