Re: Unknown Chanter Reeds
Take a tiny container or bottle, fill it with water, shake it out, put the reed in it, seal the cap, and a day later, voila.

Re: Why are some better than others ?
I think environment has a lot more to do with it than many might think. Talent, yes, can't do without that. Practice, yes, but who that wants to be good doesn't practice?

Re: Better teaching methods?
I think the two most important things in all the years I've been at this is to teach the student to read music properly right from the very beginning and never to tell anyone that anything is hard or...

Re: "Wrongly" arranged and misprinted tunes
I'm finding this a very interesting thread. Personally, I'm not against altering tunes, after all we are a folk instrument and especially when it pertains to the folk music we play, but I do think it...

I think it's excellent. If only there were additionally a way to indicate what way a gracenote was made (ie) it is either made by lifting one single finger as in a simple G gracenote, or say a simple...

I'll have another go at it! I learned it once a long time ago but never played it to an audience. I believe there's a very good alternative setting in Binneas Is Boreraig.
