Re: Geico commercial with pipes
I think the shower and bedroom piper is Scott MacDonald, former PM of the LA Scots. I'm not used to him with a beard though! Not sure about the others...

Re: Nigel Richard R.I.P
Nigel was a maker, is that correct? The name is familiar.
Condolences to his family and friends.

So this is what the wait feels like... (new pipes)
Murray Huggins is making me a set of silver engraved Colin Kyo pipes. Every set that I've owned have been used sets: the pipes I inherited from my grandfather, assorted sets that passed through my...

Re: "Scottish" DNA results for native-born Scots
For all the ambiguity of genes, my Ancestry DNA test came back about as spot-on as could be expected . . . clearly Irish, German, Italian—all relatively recent immigrants (19th & 20th century)—plus...

Re: Need help getting a seal

Re: Need help getting a seal
Another vote for giving the Reed Wrangler Ergonomic Mouthpiece a try. I love mine, it really helps keep a proper seal.

Re: Fondly remembered gigs?
My instructor called me to take a gig he couldn't take. It was a funeral arranged by local family he knew. The funeral turned out to be for a man whom had arranged a trip to Ireland years before that...

Re: Piper in The Crown Season 4
This reminds me of Lorne Cousin touring with Madonna with a kilt that was down below his knees . . . Lorne no doubt questioned the length of the kilt he was asked to perform in, but in the end, it...

Re: Changing birl style
I played the tap and pull for a number of years. It was never quite as fast as it should have been. About 5-6 years into my piping, a judge noticed it at a workshop and recommended that I try a...

Re: Cutting The Tip Off Reeds
My worry with a tool like that is that it's very hard to resharpen . . . if it's even sharp enough in the first place to do the job. I have one at work and I'd never use it on reeds, it's not...
