Re: Recommend a Kilt Shop?

Kathy Lare made my kilt. It was easy to work with her and the kilt is excellent quality. I highly recommend her.

Re: Degenerative Disc Desease

I was never in the military but played hard... 15 years as a sport skydiver with over 1500 jumps. I also am passionate about long distance/adventure motorcycle trips. I guess both of these could be...

Degenerative Disc Disease

I was recently diagnosed with DDD at C5-C6. There is apparently pinching on nerves and I have tingling, numbness, and loss of strength in my right hand. This is mostly affecting my ring and little...

Re: How long can it last? L&M

If the only leak is at the seam, I would try to season it. L&M's are such great bags it's worth a try. My L&M is dated 1985. It is the only bag that has been on my 1986 Naill's. I don't want to...

Re: David Naill Bagpipes, good?

I've owned my Naill's for 31 years. They will not leave my hands until I'm on my deathbed. IMHO you cannot do better. Soundwise, you may love the Naill's or you may prefer a different brand. That...

Re: Poly or Blackwood Chanter: Can you hear the difference?

I missed the survey so will just comment:

I almost exclusively hear poly chanters so can't say that I can hear a difference. I MUCH prefer to play a wooden chanter, both practice and pipe...

Re: End of an Era

I am also an engineer with a very similar schedule. It doesn't help that band practice is 1.5 hours away. The saving grace is that we only practice one night per week. I've taken the last year off...

Re: What make of pipe bag do you play?

I have a large L&M hide bag on my Naill's. The bag was manufactured in 1985 and was on the pipes when I bought them new in 1986. I season them about once a year with Airtight and use a Moose valve....

Re: Fred Morrison Uilleann Pipes

These new pipes were officially announced by Kenny Macleod on August 2. Fred was supposed to perform with them on Piping Live. I have been looking for the video but cannot find it. There is also...

Re: Davidse Thistle anyone?

Yes, and very hardy also. Roundup appears to kill it but the thistle always comes back.

Re: Davidse Thistle anyone?

I have thistles growing in my yard and they are a real pain in the butt (they aren't growing right now, they are buried in the snow). As nice as that engraving is, I'm not sure I would want to look...

Re: Custom made pipes by big makers?

I know you say "big makers" but I would look at a reputable smaller maker like Jim Gellaitry. There are a number of forum members that have his pipes and rave about them. I suspect that he would...

Re: Piping on the space station

Yes, 1 atmosphere = 14.7 psi. I've never heard a number for humidity level.

I'm assuming the pipes are poly. They might take a beating in 0 G.
