Re: Farting Lips
Those noises will lessen as you keep working with the practice chanter and pipes. Your mouth will build muscle tone.

Re: Bass drone rattle?
More information about your pipe setup would be a help.
Something as simple as the plastic tuning screws on some drone reeds being a little loose can make a drone sound like it has a rattle or a...

Re: Don't Overblow The Reed
This seems to go back to the idea of balancing the strength (amount of air required) for drone reeds with the strength of a chanter reed, and all of that being at a playing pressure that is very...

Re: Ultimate Bagpipe Case?
Direct from the factory with your choice of solid foam or "Pick-N-Pluck" foam.

I got (gave) a Kiss of (to) the King's Hand?
In the first line, fifth measure, of this tune there is something that looks like an 'edre' played on F (not sure what it is actually called). Is this movement played the same way as an edre, but...

Re: New Compositions in ceol mor
Are these just themal notes (no grace notes?) or am I not understanding something?
How is the "DC" close together played - what does it represent?
I like the idea of seeing a Piob together.

Ron,
Based upon your exchanges with the Society, is it being suggested that those interested in membership submit an application without having two endorsers and see how the process goes?
How...

Re: Who is a member of the P/S?
For some folks the requirement that the applicant "must be proposed and seconded by two members of the Society who personally know the Candidate." is not an easy hurdle.

If I had been asked this question 5+ years ago (when both I and my pipes were new to all this) I would have given you a laundry list... but time has shown that it wasn't the pipes or the chanter that...

Re: Whats a good beginer practice chanter
One with sound holes on the side and/or a sole at the base...
Sound holes will allow sound to come out of the chanter if you cover the bore (possible when playing it resting your your knee, etc.)....

The piano (but no one believes it's hard because everyone is...

Re: How Clever Are You?
Left brain, right brain?
- 0% the first time
- turned 180 degrees and got 100% the next time
... it was the only way I could think of to change the left and right sides.

If oiling a chanter causes it to:

- change tone
- change scale
