So to be clear here , if I've done the pencill test on the tenor bottom section and they seem good , would the way to go be to bore the lower section bigger or leave it and bore the tenor top...

Yep pencil slides through the bottom section snugly but not tightly

Thanks , I'm not fixating on tuning position but if I were to tune them where they want to be it would be about 1 finger off the projecting mount ,( and this is only an issue with the tenors ) bass...

Ok my Sinclair's have always tuned low on the tenor pins , nomatter which reeds I used tuning screws always maxed right in and reeds seated all the way in , they are 1978 , now I've recently tried...

Thanks for your insight ,I have read that people insert brass tuning to lower bass joints th get the drone to tune higher , so are you saying if the reed was sleeved this would work the opposite way...

I have two one on my solo chanter and one on my band chanter , it's true chanter is ready to go from the off , nice to get my pipes out and only have the bass to tune , obviously tweaks as we go on...

Tuning low on pin
I have a set of 78 sinclairs that have a great sound and have just fitted kinnaird evo s , however as with every reed I've had ( beleive me I've tried a lot ) I can never manage to get the tenors on...

My friend plays Glenn's with kinnaird reeds and they sound great , maybe the comment was regarding the balance to your chanter ? I.e. Blood drones but not an evenly bold chanter sound ? Yes...

Yes the reeds are seated all the way in and el gaitero thanks for the blue tack tip I'll try that in the extreme screws , didn't readies they were hollow

With reeds like canning the screw is all the way out and with reeds like selbie that the screw is a visible screw , all the way in so to shorten the tuning chamber

As above I've tried lots of reeds ie canning redwood selbie xtreme all with the reeds seated all the way home and tuning screws all the way in , band pitches between 482 and 485 hz so quite sharp ,...

Big bore extendable blowpipe valve problem
