Re: Chanters & Pitch @ 2018 World Pipe Band Championships

On a side note: Am I the only person who observed some mighty clean and amazing cut-offs with many round (lots of huff still in there) pipe bags?

Re: Pipe bag covers, drone ribbons, and more

I am surprised nobody has used drone ribbons to generate advertising revenue.

Other than that, ribbons / cords seem more like window dressing....well, except for those cool chain cords the...

Re: G1 reeds in Shepherd chanter

According to some, unless you are a top-tier player then you kinda get what reed makers grab from the box. (documented...hardly refuted)

I would contact Shawn Husk at Husk reeds. Seems a...

Re: Are you an audiophile/or do you find sound fascinating?

I always associated and classified y'all as a bunch a rebellious, dysfunctional, egotistical, maniacal, obstinate, disruptive, anti-authority, passionate, and intelligent yet generally flawed in...

Re: staples

To be clear then, this is simply a design choice and not the difference between staples?

To quote a reedmaker -

The () reed is designed to be sharper on the top hand and flatter on the...

I can only imagine the topics:

a) Piper Health: Capsazin is your friend.

b) Skip the Grip: Substitute gracenotes for grips, doublings, and toarluath.

c) Old Hands: How to play a jig...

Re: In tune PC reed for Kron PCs?

On Charley's website, on the "About" page, he has his contact number listed.

Since you didn't mention trying to contact Kron Bagpipes directly, I offer it as perhaps the best solution to your...

It seems nobody is refuting your claim even though there have been replies. So I humbly bow to the "conjecture" provided and will move it to the "fact" section in my brain. :thumb:

Re: Replacement value 1950s Grainger & Campbell’s

Your insurance company will accept a value based upon opinions here?

Little finger to side of mouth......

Your pipes are worth a gazillion dollars!

Re: Reed never stabilises

First - let me say I am not a piper...............

However, I always understood that as a (cane) reed becomes more wet, it "flattens" (become dull) in pitch.

I would say you have a very...

Re: Well-known pipers who play easy reeds?

I SERIOUSLY doubt that Mr Husk, Mr. Apps, or Mr. Murray (to name a few) do business like that.

However, if you have very specific examples of reed makers that operate that way, please do tell. ...

Re: Homemade Bag Cover by a Non Sewer

$22 plus your time (shopping, sewing, adjusting).

Being a simple man, and referring to posts from pipers and having seen some purchased covers - this simply confirms the value (IMO) of covers...

Re: Mac-1 chanter from MacLellan

Very hard to answer such a question. As you know, it's very subjective.

Kyo chanters are continually suggested for piper's who make the same inquiry.

However, if you are gonna take a look...
