Re: Sibelius and Universal Piper
Can you be a bit more specific about what Reaper is called? When Google "Reaper" I can about a billion hits, none of which has anything to do with sound.....
Thanks,

Sibelius and Universal Piper
Hey Folks:
I want to use the Sibelius playback more effectively. I use the plugins to put all the technique on the beat, and I've installed Universal Piper to get a better bagpipe sound. But I...

Re: Practice Chanters - tuned to A or Bb?
My school band does a spring concert each year and a couple of times we've done a practice chanter number with half a dozen pipers and it has always gone over very well. A good concert requires...

Re: Practice Chanters - tuned to A or Bb?
No matter what pitch your practice chanter is at, I vehemently disagree with the idea that we shouldn't worry if it's "not in tune" because it's not a performance instrument. With apologies for any...

David Glen was a huge figure, not only as a pipemaker, but as a compiler. Many great players, including John MacDonald of Inverness, considered his piobaireachd collection the most significant...

I had a bout of trigger finger on my right hand F-you digit a year or so ago. Flared up particularly when I played Northumbrian smallpipes. Cortisone shot took care of that.
About two months ago...

I saw this one posted above two. I don't recall who the other pipers are, but the man sitting in the chair is Archibald Campbell of Kilberry fame.

This is clearly William Ross, Queen's Piper from the death of Angus Mackay until his own death in 1898. He was a major piping figure, for more than just being Queen Victoria's piper. He was a...

It took a long time for me to learn this, but as a general rule, when you're not happy with your drones, focus on the bass. There are lots of great reeds out there today, and it's never been easier...

The concept comes obviously from the oboe, though I believe oboe reeds use cork rather than o-rings.
From our end, we also wanted an insertion principle that puts every reed in the exact same...
