Re: Leather Pipe Bag Tie-in Issue

Re: Hardie or MacDougal

The McDougals will be considerably older than the Hardies.

In general, McDougal drones are highly desired and many modern makers are copying their specs in reproductions.

Hardie drones are...

Re: Rspba

Here with WUSPBA, it can take weeks or months for results to be posted online.

Iíd say RSPBA has their act together much better on that front.

I used to teach the pipe and at a local high school. The pipe band would accompany the marching band for parades and the assistant director would always say to me ďhave them play that one bagpipe...

If youíre happy with how they look and, more importantly, how they sound, then screw what other people say.

Re: Chanter reeds, what makes good, what makes bad?

Arundo Donax is a non-native, invasive species in North America and, at least here in San Diego, is seen as a pest to be removed.

Re: Bit of a 'crack' problem needing some advice please

This.

When I got my pipes, I specified a poly blowpipe and stock when they would normally be wood. Now that’s standard for many makers, including the one who made my pipes.

Re: Mini MSR competition. Something I'd like to see.

WUSPBA just got rid of their G4 Mini MSR for bands this season. Granted it was 4 parts march, which could be 1x4 parter or 2x2 parters, 2 parts strathspey, and 2 parts reel.

The RSPBA G4A for...

Re: Low G won't sharpen

Before undercutting the holes, try the tape across the bell. Iíll try to get a pic of what I did. It shouldnít work, but it does.

Put some tape across the very bottom of the chanter (at the bell, not the tone holes) at the edge. Sounds counterintuitive to use tape to sharpen a note, but it works.
