Re: Glenfiddich Tempos

obvious to most.
It is music we are listening to, or playing. It is always open to

Re: Solo Competition Breakdown

After not competing for more years than I care to think about, I decided
to give it a try. I competed twice that season and the first judge pointed out
an issue in the third part of the jig I...

Re: Another Paradigm Shift in Pipe Banding

Although my parade days are behind me, in my experience, the best
beer you will ever taste is the first one after a three mile trek on a
30 degree plus Celsius day.
To take away the...

Re: Exercise sheets - good or bad?

To my simple mind it comes down to this:
If you can't play the movements well, you can't
play the tune well.
Steady blowing and playing with nice expression
are, of course, part of the whole...

Re: Oldest pipe band member

I believe in the old adage 'you are only as old as you feel'
Ergo, I am the oldest living piper because I feel like I am
about 110 years of age. Simple math. lol

Re: Another Odd Duck Music Question...

Oh yeah
Sometimes referred to as an "ear worm".
Happens to me all the time, and not just pipe tunes.
Classic Rock is the worst offender, but maybe that's just
because I'm old.

Re: Band Practice

And the reason I left my band, those that promise faithfully to
be at a practice/gig until the time comes to show up.
Then, apparently, they find something much more important

insignia on his tunic. He should have stuck with the mace, as they

Re: Favourite players/recordings

Where to start?
I think two albums that seemed to be omens of a seismic shift
in pipe band styles;
78th Frasers Live in Ireland
SFU Nous Sommes Pret
And for solo, well anything by Alasdair...

Re: Overseas travel with bagpipes

I recently played at my son's wedding in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Re: Great 6/8 competition tunes

Donald McLean of Lewis, Murdo MacKenzie of Torridon are two that
have a somewhat higher degree of difficulty than most.
