Re: Iíve met my threshold and itís 15 degrees

None assumed. I played only the week or so before at the church....in the sun...and I could pop in and out of the vestibule ...it was 17F ....but worked ok with the warmth of the vestibule until the...

Re: Iíve met my threshold and itís 15 degrees

Itís still grade school science that h2o freezes at 32F. Knowingly subjecting oneself or instrument to scathing lesser temps is foolhardy. Even the military does not play in these conditions if...

Re: Grey's Anatomy Solo Piper Tune?

My wife recorded the show..insisted I watch the next day. I don’t know the name... I didn’t care for it...a meandering unmusical piece I thought. I understood the band was LA Scots..

Re: Help Identifying Bagpipes

Kintail hit my thots too. The pronounced drone bush is as Iíve seen recently on a studentís pristine set resurrected from the closet after 20 years.... thot ..jeez..huge bushes.
Interesting that...

Re: So,..what makes it a Bb reed vs a standard reed?

..Was hoping you’d chime in. Yeah...I looked carefully...but no evident diff in the staple diameter when mating a standard red end against the Bb reed ...I’ll check the staple length with a caliper. ...

Re: So,..what makes it a Bb reed vs a standard reed?

That was among my guesses....a longer or miniscule larger diameter staple,.shorter/wider blades, tied lower, maybe thicker at some point....all guesses.
But none of those were manifest obvious on the...

Re: So,..what makes it a Bb reed vs a standard reed?

Thatís two. Weíre on a roll.

Interestingly to me, a SGPM friend ...seemed a bit quizzical about them...and said he only uses the makers standard reeds for his Bb set up...playing that same...

Re: Polished drone bores?

I visited the Sinclair shop in ‘02..had a pleasant chat with Alistair for a while ...who showed me his operation. When I espied a small pile of ABW ‘end cuts’ off eg stocks, drones etc ..he said it...

Re: The BlowHard

I think an adequate substitute for this....gadget....could be made using a standard screw-on bulb mouthpiece and a rubber stopper with a hole in it. Not $20.

Re: Too much tape

Perhaps arguably ,immeasurably ..moving the bottom of the hole down has no effect. Just like taping it. Moving it Ďdowní ( enlarging it) may increase the volume so slightly.

Raising the top of a...

Re: Polished drone bores?

If the maker is using very sharp gun drills the bores should not need additional smoothing
If Ďpolishedí further by the end user ...it should be done using fine grade steelwool on a e.g. rifle...

Re: Too Much Tape

It seems so natural...

Re: Clamptite instead of hose clamps?

What kind of bag is it that needs hose clamps on all the drone and blowstick stocks? Iíve never had any grimmeted bag the need more than one clamp at the chanter stock...or tied in.
