Happened to me twice. Suggest "improvise." As aesthetics matter little for this instrument. Ensure batteries are held in and connection is steady. Then tape.

Definitely concur. ...many "too long" kilts on the go; sometimes due to measuring instructions promulgated by some producers. Luckily, this wasn't an issue for me with Www.mackilts.com
