Re: Pipe Case Alternatives

I made mine. It's essentially a briefcase with a full-width tray inside for the odds & ends. Made out of poplar, stained dark walnut. A little hefty, but it protects the pipes from being crushed if...

When I was playing with a band, the PM would either use his chanter as the target pitch or get an...

Re: BDF Reach

Indeed Nate. Here in Kentucky, I know of four active pipe bands, three of which are competition bands. Each of the four bands have fewer than 30 active members as best as I can tell.

Through the...

Re: Former PM charged with child porn (Calif.)

I posted something similar with a link to the training here in this thread (http://forums.bobdunsire.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1340334#post1340334).

It's a shame that the boy involved in...

Re: Forum activity levels

This is why I don't use my full name on an open, searchable forum. I have been threatened with bodily harm ?:( :ack: :wow: for posting a dissenting opinion, even though it was backed up by citations...

Re: Forum activity levels

I'm on FB to keep track of the social activities of my family & friends and occasionally chime in on one of their posts.

I come to online fora like BDF for subject-specific information I'm not...

Re: Pipe Teacher in LaFayette, Indiana?

They should check out the Fountain Trust Pipe Band out of Covington, IN. (Roughly one hour to the SW). I don't know if they offer instruction from the band itself, but they may know of someone close...

Re: Gordon Walker

I don't want to get into a debate on what happened within either organization in the past. I will say that that sort of behavior is reprehensible for anyone in a position of authority and trust over...

Re: Worst venue of 2018...go!

NoisyPiper, you're citing just the average prize money totals for the grade 4 & 5 contests. 3D Piper was closer to the actual $ cost to run a band contest with 4 judges.

I helped to run the...
