So I measured the bushes on this ca 2008 set of Shepherd pipes.

Tenors: 13.1mm. Bass: 13.4mm. Close to what Shepherd had said...still, to me , surprisingly small.

Thx .... until he gains a few more years experience I think EZ’s aren’t sodjer proof enough for a youngster. Great reeds tho,..I use EZ’s in my ‘big’ pipes.

The diverter thingy goes in ,IIRC, with its angled shelf on the up side. Check that it’s correct....and about half way up between the top of the reed lips and the inside bell.

I acquired a nice lightly abw used set for a young student...pipes about 12 yrs old....they came with SM90’s.

I’d like to move him to a more refined set of reeds...but these are really the first...
