The way it was explained to me years ago was - when you slow down the tune tempo (as in just learning the tune), your embellishments should be very open to make sure your fingering...

Re: Pipe Band Tuning

Unfortunately, those in our band in need of adjusting their instrument with a tuner haven't the first idea of what to do with it. They've been taken aside by a human tuner for adjustments for so...

Re: Posting

What I mean is - I posted, backed out, then went back to that thread, and it wasn't shown.

It's no big deal really, I just thought when one posted something, it would show up immediately.

Re: perceptions on horse hair

Pancelticpiper -

Any idea of who that young piper is in the third photo you presented, and why it was deemed important to superimpose his likeness in the photo?

Egads! Walrus penile bone?!! Tha's got to be rarer than rocking horse $hit! I can't imagine it would be more acceptable than elephant ivory!

On-line competition

To all:

This is something a friend of mine put together, and she asked me to pass it along to all of you.

It looks like we may be unable to compete at our local contests for an indefinite...

Re: Post Pandemic bag hygiene

I remember years ago smelling the inside of my bag. Whew, was that nasty. So, I put a copper inside my bag as a disinfectant. Shortly thereafter, I had a gig to play, not terribly important, but...

Re: Burning calories

Just curious - are you interested in losing weight, or getting to a certain size?

The reason I ask is - I used to pay close attention to the scale until I found out I could actually reduce my...

Re: Bagpipe Backlash - McDonald's restaurant

I don't find this BS funny at all! Pipers have a hard enough time being taken seriously, and then this $hit happens! I hate it when pipers who've taken lessons for a short period think they're able...

Re: How do you know that you ready to teach?

I don't know that you'll know until you try. You'll probably BOTH be learning, one how to teach and/or modify teaching methods, and the other how to play this amazing instrument.
