Re: Careful with the band photos you post!

Why is there a thread calling attention to the short comings of a small Fire Department pipe band? Not needed. I hope there isn't anyone who read this and is now discouraged from playing with their...

Re: Which Rudiments?

Honestly, the biggest difference between drumline and pipe band drumming, isn't any individual rudiments, but the technique (both grip and in a more meta sense) with which the rudiments are played....

Re: judge vs alex duthart

Totally correct. I think a lot of the time being a good teacher goes hand in hand with being a good judge. As long as you're not criticizing their judgement, just asking for clarification, most guys...

Re: judge vs alex duthart

The only repetitive thing I could see the judge complaining about is that bars 3 and 4 of parts 1, 2 and 4 are the same (as well as the ending each part but this happens in most marches). I've heard...

Re: Stick Tape??

I use stick tape as well and have since '95! I actually wish I could play without it as I prefer the feel of natural sticks, but my hands just don't allow it. I sweat and lose the grip on my right...

Re: Graham Browns new book

Lol. Due to my horrible computer knowledge I actually had that set up incorrectly. It was sending the messages somewhere else. Fixed! Thanks Andrew

Re: Drumming Corps Champions at Cowal

The correct spelling is Dalziel. You've got the pronunciation correct though (Dee-el). The band was the Dalziel Highlanders. The drum corps was very successful in the late 20's and 30's under Lead...

Re: Alma Highland Festival results

Well this is just plain wrong. I'm sure there are other examples, but I can tell you for a fact that the LA Scots have routinely beaten Canadian bands at Pleasanton, not to mention finishing ahead of...

Re: Metro Results?

Not to be argumentative, but your honest opinion doesn't matter here. The judgeable part of the performance is done once the player starts the ground the 2nd time. For those in the know, a trailing...

Re: How was winter storm for you?
