Midnight blue glens can look deceivingly black...

I knew what you meant. I curved a mouthpiece in early 80’s...by heating in the oven then bending. Ha,..I never used it more than a few minutes....still have it

Wasn’t totally cognizant that Naill makes poly pipes...but I’d venture there is no reason to expect they would not sound very nice.
However...a more economical alternative would be Mccallum...

I was mildly surprised to see Stuart in a recent event vid playing a straight blow stick. Candidly I’ve always been surprised by him playing a tilt stick.

Found way less than pea size plug of BT will rip out with just a squeeze of the finger tips...but is well secured in thereotherwise. Then can be ‘dabbed’ onto the reed body for later use fiddling...

Use blu-tac.....just enough to make a plug at the opening. Much easier to clean away than a plug hole full of ‘putty’.

The homely ones IMO are those generic sticks with no matching mount , metal knobs plain smooth extension tubes,etc. . . A bespoke acetyl one of the right fixed length with a proper mount, turnings...

Totally agree. Nothing worse looking IMO than knurled knob adjustments etc with cheesy glossy black mouth piece and mismatched mount on an otherwise venerable set of pipes.

A good syn blowstick will cost you North of $100. A good repair job similar.
