Re: Bass reeds and tuning

Being that the Henderson Deluxe bass reed tongue is carbon fibre and the Ezeedrone are polycarbonate, I would be tempted to chalk it up to materials.

The Ezeedrone tongues are both thin, pliable,...

Re: Infamy - New tune (free PDF & MP3 downloads)

Well played Matt. This would be interesting on the Uilleann pipes.

Re: Need help getting a seal

The Reed Wrangler is the best that I have seen and used. It is wide and narrow more than oval mouthpieces which makes it easier to clamp down on it with your lips.

Re: Solo Chanter For New MacRae Pipes

Yeah these are the go to's for this I think. I liked the Gandy but I'm not sure on its tone for me personally, very comfy and easy to reed though. I own a Kyo and it's arguably the 'comfiest' out...

Re: Changing birl style

And don't fight your bagpipes! I have spent too many months now chasing full relaxation because the long term effects of being tense any and everywhere in the body are serious. I've had tendonitis...

Re: RG Hardie twist trap practice pipes

I don't have the practice pipes but I do have the Twist Trap practice chanter that it uses and like it a lot. I would probably agree with the others, you'd do better to purchase a used set of...

Re: Roddy MacLeod launches “Hebridean” range of Pipes

I believe this is true. That the two play McCallum drones now (in addition to their Gandy chanters) along with their Henderson and MacDougall (someone correct me here) heritage pipes as well.

Re: Roddy MacLeod launches “Hebridean” range of Pipes

I'd be curious to know this too. On the one hand there is supreme repeatability with swapping between newer sets of course next to no worry about something happening to them. On the other hand there...

Re: Acoustics question

And to follow on Kevin's comment, +3dB of gain requires roughly a doubling of energy. This is a rule of thumb for amplification and there are certainly many losses in an audio system, but a decent...

Re: Entry-level piping-related careers? Advice requested
