Re: Cane SSP Reeds
With a bellows blown set, it's not uncommon for a reed to last for decades assuming careful handling. I played a Hamish Moore set for over 15 years with no reed issues (other than the occasional...

Re: eBay Irish smallpipes
The eBay listing doesn't give the maker's name—says it's available on request via a PM. Hard to tell from looking at the photos.
Best wishes.

Re: Lignum vitae
Thanks Barry. I know Hamish Moore made some SSP in Lignum years back (Chris Layer played a set), but I hear mixed comments for its use in mouthblown instruments like flutes, recorders, etc. Just...

Anyone have any experience with Lignum vitae used on mouthblown (aka "wet") pipes?

Same response as before probably applies. Check with Barry Shears. He still remembers more about Cape Breton piping than the rest put together.
Best wishes.

Dave Shaw advertises shuttle pipes, although his web site says he is not currently taking orders. Not sure whether that meets your criterion of "producer".

Colin Ross RIP
Word is spreading that Colin Ross has passed. Sad to hear. Long noted for his Northumbrian pipes and as the "inventor" of the modern Scottish Smallpipes.
Be well.
