Re: "B" Flat Set up

I have had only one occasion to play which required pipes in A 440. I have an old no-name Indian chanter that pitches in a, and used extenders, internal and external to get my drones down to A. I...

Re: AAaarrrgggghhhhh!!!! My bag has sprung a leak!!!

Another vote for Shoe Goo®. My first synthetic bag started leaking after 9 years and a dab of Shoe Goo® kept it playing until I got in a replacement. However, it's replacement failed- cracked open...

Re: Hijaz scale, Israeli tunes

In Western Art Music terminology Harmonic Minor ( A, B, Cnat, D, E Fnat G# A) as opposed to Natural Minor evolved to allow a V7-I resolution in an otherwise n minor tune. It solved a harmonic...

Re: Ratio of Harmony to Melody--Ideas

After listening a few times, I think the melody get lost where the two parts cross in an eighth-note run , 2nd and 6th bars 2nd part- one plays B G, the other G B, what I hear is repeated B as a...

Re: "B" Flat Set up

FWIW, I have two older chanters that pitch at (or about) B flat, and both can be set to play dead-on Bflat ("a" =466);
1. 1979 Mcleod ( my original chanter, which came with my G&M AB2 in late 1979,...

Re: First time jitters

…as others have said, moisten it a bit ( Don't DROWN it), give it a wee squeeze ( if it's ridge-cut) and play it in over a few days.

Re: Bagpipes for wet conditions

In my experience, Henderson Harmonic II reeds can be totally soaked and keep playing- just take them out, blow the water out , plug them back in and continue playing. Selbies can be handled the same...

It can be found in several sources, including in
Irish Tunes for the Scottish and Irish War...

Re: Guitar chords for pipe tunes

Capo 2 brings the guitar ( or banjo, or whatever) up a half step, so A=Bflat, putting you close to bagpipe tuning ( or dead-on if you have either an older late '60s-'70s chanter or a modern B flat...

Re: Do any museum specimens or other old pipes have a baritone drone?

FWIW, if I remove the mid-section of my SSP Bass drone, I get another Baritone drone that will tune to either D or E :thumb:

Re: G Major (not G mixolydian) Smallpipe chanter
