Re: "New" Husk Reeds

They are indeed great reeds, very bright, crisp, and LOUD! :thumb:

Re: Playing older settings of tunes

Indeed, it is quite rough and frayed around the edges.

However I still like it, there is a kind of grit to it. Very ancient/old world sounding, rather haunting.

Re: New Ceol chanter?

Is also it true that newer Naill chanters are slightly slimmer than their older counterparts?

Re: New Ceol chanter?

I recall reading Chris Apps doing the same thing to his old Naill chanter, on one of his videos.

He said he did a ton of carving to get it up to the pitch he likes at around 480.

Re: New Ceol chanter?

I find my new Naill chanter fairly easy to reed. It sounded absolutely lovely when I popped in a Megarity reed.

Anyways, I am looking forward to hear Mr. Husk's opinion on the new Ceol...

Re: New Ceol chanter?

Ooh that's interesting, since mine is 2018. I was reading that thread, interesting stuff.

Would anyone else know what piper helped revamp the design, and what changes they made?

Re: Kinnaird reeds taking too much air?

I want to ask, does anyone notice a change in performance as their reeds warm up?

I notice once I have played for a while, the Kinnaird Evo's "howl" much less when blowing up the bag?

Re: New Ceol chanter?

Is it the lower pitch in the older ones? The newer ones can indeed get quite high, but honestly I like the higher pitch.:)

Re: New Ceol chanter?

That's what I thought, I like it better than the conventional McCallum look.

And I am not sure, but it seems Sinclair has done away with their "bulb", now it just flares out at the end.

New Ceol chanter?

I just ordered one, should come in about a month or so, and I am excited to try it out :woot:

It's apparently an all new, redesigned band chanter by McCallum. Has anyone tried this chanter? If...

Mussette de cour, any players here?

Are there any pipers who happen to play a Mussette de cour?

If so how did you obtain one? & where would one find such an interesting thing?

Thx in advance!👌👍

Re: Kinnaird reeds taking too much air?

I found the same (I have ABW Dunbars), they were completely domineering over my Naill chanter with an EzeePC reed, and this was when they were between the two marks, they also took more air then the...

Switching to a Ross suede bag?

I am thinking of switching to a smaller bag, and a Ross one at that.

I hear the Ross is very good with moisture control, one of the reasons I got my eyes on one.

I am just curious to know...

Re: G1 Copper chanter reed

I might buy one to try it out:thumb:.

I find G1 reeds to be a bit stiff though, so I guess I might put an elastic on it.

EzeePC reeds, have you tried them?

I just got an EzeePC reed for my 2nd set of pipes, and they are NOT kidding when they say "Low resistance" it is by far the easiest reed I have ever played! You could play it blowing through your...

Re: Chanter pitch and reed question

Yes, I have an Elliot sound supreme reed, it went a little too far into the reed seat, and many notes were too sharp and required tape, I removed the original hemp, and put some new hemp on. Now it...
