White knee socks are fine for primary, up to premiere. A white shirt and bow tie work, and a sporan is appropriate. My son danced until he was twelve, into premiere

You might try your local parks and recreation department--usually the city. They sometimes have dance programs, and might be interested in Highland, something other than jazz, tap and ballet.

One of the things I love about Highland Dancing is the disciplne and concentration that goes into it. I was amazed that my daughter could do so much at age six, along with all of the other 5, 6 and7...

Once in awhile a piper pulls out a tune for dancing that no one has heard of or ever danced to, in class or competitions. It is an incredibly distracting experience for the dancers.
