Re: New G. S. McLennan March

Great news and nice sounding on the one listen! The first tune that I played at the Eagle Pipers was his Loch Maree. Wonder if this new tune will be played at the next "Worlds".

Re: European Pear Finish

I use clear shellac on just about everything I turn for the various types of pipes as well as other items. Some are also waxed. It's easier to work with than the orange shellac. For me, my index...

Re: European Pear Finish

The two 18th century clarinets that I once had were just finished with orange shellac. Looked wonderful!

Re: Old Hendersons, drone suggestions

Put all cane reeds in. Then slap an old Hardie chanter in with a cow-hide bag and they'll sing for you.

Re: Reed Making Weather

Ron, I read a thread about doing that a few years ago. I believe it was on this forum, so they were talking about a GHB chanter. The brass nipple wouldn't need to be very long. It had two cuts on at...

Re: Reed Making Weather

Have you considered using a piece of smaller hobby brass tubing to line the reed inside for those that won't fit into the bore? Instead of adding lengths of hemp on a reed that seats too loose, use a...

Re: Identification: what are they?

They also come as bellows blown. Just imagine! If I could view a chanter/little drone stock, I could probably make one. May take some time but I'll eventually figure out how to make one.

Re: Unusual uses for bagpipes

No! No! No! That's ceiling fan calibration. Think I'll post how I'm going to repair my bass drone top after it's done.

Re: Christmas Tunes That Fit Pipe Scale

Thanks guys! I remember playing a lot of these tunes years ago. Trying each one out, I quickly found out that some of them weren't meant for pipes. With this tune list at hand I should be O.K.
