Hello All,

First, let me say I have been on my meds religiously, I think.

My main problem is I have lost the passion I feel is required to practice, maintain and play this instrument. I have...

Re: How "soundproof" is a home really?

A previous home of ours set by itself with an allotment behind it. I would practice in a back bedroom when I was first learning. One day in December a friend of our son stopped over for a visit and...

Re: Cane drone reeds

Good point about the drone bores. The chanter is an early blackwood Naill.

I will at least be trying a cane bass reed and see how it goes with the Ezeedrone tenors.

Thanks to everyone for your...

Three Miles to Calloway

Has anyone heard of the tune "Three Miles to Calloway" written by Gemma Briggs and, if so, do know where I could get a recording of it?

I have the sheet music, for what it's worth.

Thank you.

The Korg meter I have is an old model C-10. It does not even display or reference frequency. The "Actual" setting simply allows the meter to display the note being played. As far as...

Re: A# vs. Bb

Thank you to all for the input. Now, I can hopefully tune the notes in between.

Most of these notes are not close to what they should be, i.e. C is D, D is D#, E is F, etc. per my Korg meter set...

A# vs. Bb

I'm almost embarrassed to ask this, but...... Is A# and Bb the same note on the GHP as they are on a keyboard instrument?

My chanter's low and high A are currently tuning to A# per my meter.

I...

Re: Early 80's Lawie drones w/EZ reeds

Thank you to all who have replied.

The problem did turn out to be reed adjustment. I did not have the air requirement balanced. After considerable bridle adjustment, all three reeds cut off when...

Early '80s Lawie drones w/EZ reeds

I installed standard EZ drones with the help of a professional piper about three months ago. The drones sounded great and were not hard on the lungs, after the usual adjustments. Now, it is all I can...

Re: Old/New Piper - returning to piping

My pipe instructor told me to purchase standard Ezee drone reeds and Husk chanter reeds. I got an easy/medium and a medium. These drones work great in my pipes and I am now playing again!

Re: Thread for late-comers to piping?

I am re-starting piping at age 67 after 15 years of not playing. First lesson is tonight.

Go for it and put in the time - you won't be disappointed.
